MEET THE SKIPPERS

DAILY DOUBLE  -  Captain Fred Huber is a San Diego (Point Loma) native and actually began decking on the DOUBLE as early as 1976.  Fred jumped into the sportfishing business with both feet, learning not only about the boat and the local fishing hotspots, but also customer care and respect for the fishery from an early age.  A graduate of Point Loma High in ’80, while still working he completed his AA in Business Administration at Mesa College and acquired his Coast Guard Master license in 1983.   Even while crewing on the DOUBLE, Fred has worked with the MASCOT VI, the FISHERMAN III, the VAGABOND, and the HOLIDAY.  But his first love (other than Michelle, Philip, Stephen, and Jeffrey), the DAILY DOUBLE, has been under his direction as skipper since April of 1990.  Don’t miss the opportunity to fish with the finest half-day fisherman in all of San Diego, Captain Fred, Owner/operator of the DAILY DOUBLE.

POINT LOMA  -  Captain Steve Peterson, also a native San Diegan, and a graduate of Helix High in ’89, actually started in the industry barely a teenager in 1983 as a “pinhead” on the MV LA JOLLAN, which some of you may remember as the old ¾-day boat from Point Loma Sportfishing.  While getting his feet wet in college, the lure of sportfishing won out (fortunately!) and Steve got his Captains’ license in 1991.  From then on it was full-time on sportboats.  Steve has been a part of Captain Fred’s crew from 1990 to 1997 on the DAILY DOUBLE, worked on our POINT LOMA from 1997 to 2000 (and helped with its redesign and reconstruction), skippered the SEARCHER as far as the Revilla Gigedos in 2000, and made a real name for the EL CAPITAN from 2001 till last year.  Steve just returned to his first love, the ¾-day business by buying into the San Diego Sportfishing team and the POINT LOMA.  Fishing with the incredible enthusiasm of Captain Steve is an experience not to be missed.
